The extention tubes really does an impressive work here. I think much is helped by the solid quality on your 50 mil as well.
I'd love to try those extenders on my 17-70

ya i didnt really feel like finishing my apple (where it landed) after i saw the magnification
and the nifty fifty's nice aperture really helps when doing the extension tube macros
you shuld get em, theyre cheap (the tokina ones) so get those, since no optics whatsoever are involved theres absolutely no point on going for the more expensive, but shorter, and only 2 canon ones
in the tokina set i got 3 tubes
and this shot is stacking all of em + the nifty
im really happy i made this purchase
saved me money on a potential macro lens, and now i can use said saved money for a 430X speedlite ^^
